2027 Representative Coaching

PRNA welcomes Expressions of Interest from coaches interested in being part of our 2027 Representative Program.

Coaching opportunities will be available across:

Pre-Representative Program
Development coaching opportunities for our players turning 11.

Junior Representative Program
12 Years, 13 Years and 14 Years – including Division 1, Division 2 and Development teams.

Senior State Age Program
15 Years, 16 Years and 17–18 Years.

Greater Brisbane Netball League (GBNL)
U16, U18, U23 and Opens.

Masters Representative Program
Women’s and Mixed Masters opportunities, subject to team nominations.

Coaches may nominate their preferred program, age group and coaching role as part of the Expression of Interest process.

Coaching appointments will be made based on the needs of the overall Representative Program and may not always align with an applicant's first preference.

RNA is looking for coaches who are passionate about athlete development and committed to creating a positive, challenging and well-prepared representative environment.

Our representative coaches are expected to be:

• Prepared – arriving at training with a clear, written session plan and purpose.
• Proactive – taking ownership of their team and planning ahead rather than simply responding week to week.
• Development focused – committed to developing every athlete, not just achieving results.
• Hard-working – prepared to invest the time required outside of training and game day.
• Collaborative – working positively with their coaching partner, Team Manager and the wider PRNA coaching group.
• Communicative – providing clear, respectful and timely communication.
• Adaptable – able to assess what athletes and teams need and adjust accordingly.
• Professional – representing PRNA appropriately and maintaining high standards of behaviour.
• Open to feedback – willing to reflect, learn and continue developing their own coaching.

Representative coaches will be expected to prepare written training plans each week, with sessions demonstrating clear objectives and progression across the season.

PRNA wants our coaches to feel part of one representative coaching program, rather than individual teams operating in isolation. Coaches will be encouraged to share ideas, collaborate and support each other across the season.

You don't need to have all the answers to be a PRNA Representative Coach — but you do need to be willing to prepare, learn, collaborate and put in the work.

PRNA aims, wherever possible, to appoint two coaches to each representative team.

Coaching combinations will be considered as part of the appointment process, taking into account experience, coaching strengths, development opportunities, compatibility and the needs of each team and program.

To support independence, fairness and a positive representative environment, coaches will not generally be allocated to a team containing their own child or an immediate family member.

Where practicable, this will also extend to other close family relationships, including grandparents, aunts, uncles or similar connections.

PRNA recognises that circumstances and nomination numbers may vary between programs. Final coaching appointments will therefore be made in the best interests of the athletes, team and overall Representative Program.

Appointment as a PRNA Representative Coach comes with responsibility for both athlete development and the overall team environment.

Coaches are expected to:

• Plan and deliver purposeful, age and level-appropriate training sessions.
• Prepare and maintain weekly written training plans.
• Develop athletes individually and collectively.
• Establish clear team standards, expectations and culture.
• Prepare teams appropriately for carnivals and competition.
• Work collaboratively with their coaching partner and Team Manager.
• Communicate professionally with athletes, families and PRNA.
• Manage athlete workloads appropriately.
• Support athlete wellbeing and create a safe and inclusive environment.
• Attend required coach meetings, development opportunities and program activities.
• Work within PRNA policies, procedures and representative expectations.
• Model the behaviours and standards expected of PRNA athletes.

Coaches are also expected to communicate early where they require assistance. PRNA would rather support coaches throughout the season than wait until challenges become difficult to resolve.

Before submitting an Expression of Interest, coaches should consider the commitment involved in representative coaching.

Depending on the program, this may include:

Trials and selections
Participation in the athlete selection process relevant to the appointed program.

Weekly training
Planning and delivering regular team training sessions throughout the season.

Training preparation
Time outside scheduled training to develop session plans, review team needs and prepare upcoming sessions.

Fitness and athlete development
Working alongside the wider program to support physical preparation and athlete development requirements.

Carnivals and competition
Attendance at scheduled lead-up carnivals, competition rounds and major championship events.

Coach meetings and development
Participation in relevant PRNA meetings, coach collaboration and development opportunities.

Team communication
Regular communication and planning with the Assistant/Co-Coach and Team Manager.

The exact commitment varies between Pre-Rep, Junior, Senior State Age, GBNL and Masters, and program-specific dates are available through the relevant 2027 Representative Program pages.

PRNA is committed to developing our coaches alongside our athletes.

Throughout the Representative Program, PRNA aims to provide coaches with opportunities to learn, collaborate and continue developing their coaching practice.

This may include:

• Coach development sessions
• Mentoring and support
• Opportunities to observe and work with other coaches
• Shared coaching resources
• Collaborative planning and discussion
• Feedback and reflection opportunities
• Support towards relevant coaching accreditation and development

We recognise that coaches will enter the program with different levels of experience.

Our aim is to create an environment where coaches are supported to grow while maintaining the standards expected within a representative program.

All appointed coaches will be required to meet the relevant Netball Australia, Netball Queensland and PRNA accreditation and compliance requirements applicable to their role.

Any specific minimum accreditation requirements for individual programs or coaching positions will be outlined as part of the Expression of Interest and appointment process.

Coaches must also maintain any required registrations, Working with Children requirements and other relevant compliance requirements for their position.

Submitting an Expression of Interest does not guarantee a coaching appointment.

Following the EOI process, applicants may be invited to participate in further discussions regarding their coaching experience, philosophy, preferred program and development goals.

• Athlete development philosophy
• Demonstrated preparation and organisation
• Communication and collaboration
• Previous coaching performance where applicable
• Ability to meet the commitment of the relevant program
• Coaching combinations
• Development opportunities
• Family connections within prospective teams
• The overall needs of the 2027 Representative Program

PRNA may also offer an applicant a coaching opportunity different from the position or age group originally nominated where it is considered a better fit for the coach and program.
